I love our military, and all of the men and women who are fighting for freedom or protecting our freedoms all over the world. Don Malarkey, author of Easy Company Soldier, is one of those heroes, and he's written a memoir of his time fighting during World War II. Made famous in the book (and then HBO mini-series) Band of Brothers, Don and his fellow paratroopers gallantly jumped into the dead of night behind the Normandy beaches, fought bravely in Holland during the ill-fated Operation Market Garden, and were surrounded in the freezing cold and winter snows of Bastogne, Belgium, during the Battle of the Bulge.
Easy Company Soldier is a great read for anybody who has an interest in what it was like to be fighting, and to see your compatriots dying, during World War II. It's an excellent book, and my review of it can be found on Curled Up With a Good Book.
