Dr. Who behind the scenes - ramps up the excitment

Thanks to Blogtor Who for pointing this site out to me!  It's really cool seeing shots of the new Doctor, Matt Smith, and his companion Amy Pond (Karen Gillan) as they're filming episodes for the season coming up in Spring 2010.  While I really can't wait for the upcoming David Tennant specials, there's something about a new Doctor, new companion, and definitely a new production team, that has me really wishing they would show them now rather than in the Spring.  That is kind of hard to do since they haven't been filmed yet, but can't we just get a time machine and travel forward to April 2010 (or whenever they're going to start showing them)?

Of course, with shots like this:

and this:

am I wrong to say that I'm really pleased with the companion casting, at least so far?  Or does that just make me a dirty old man (she is only 21 or something like that, I believe)?  Of course, her acting could be atrocious and we'll come to regret her casting, I don't know (though I have faith in Stephen Moffat, the new producer).  But just from the stills, I'm liking it. *evil grin*

Seriously, though, I've never been so anxious to see something where I'm not familiar with any of the actors involved, but I am this time.  It will be interesting to see what happens with a really young Doctor and an even younger companion.  I know David Tennant often played the Doctor with a kind of manic energy that created laughs, he also brought a weight to the character that hasn't been seen for a while.  I will really miss him, and I'd like to see how they have Smith play the role.

I guess we'll just have to wait, though.
