My review of Barry Cunliffe's Europe Between the Oceans has been posted to Curled Up With a Good Book. This is one heavy tome! But definitely worth reading if you're into the history of the Ancient World (well, western Ancient World, anyway). It covers the years 9000 BC to 1000 AD, is full of fascinating maps and photography (the book's worth it for the photography alone), and really broadens your horizons about the origins of the various European peoples.
Just make sure, if you like to take books with you when you're out and about, that you're reading something else as well. This is definitely a "read in one place" kind of book.
