The living room is looking good

It's day 5 since the big "living room move" and things are really shaping up nicely.  We're still missing our TV, of course (hopefully tomorrow or Friday!), but everything else is pretty much in place.  We bought two more sets of shelves from Top Brass here in Vancouver and fit them in the slots we had made ready for them.  More places for books and movies!  Because we are overflowing with them.

Just as an aside, if you're local to Vancouver and need some good, inexpensive furniture (especially wooden shelving), Top Brass is great for that. When we first moved into this apartment, we needed some narrow shelves for our entryway because we had so many books and no place to put them. This store came through perfectly, with six-inch depth shelves that fit books perfectly. They're strong and sturdy, and really easy to assemble. They're basic wood, so if you don't like the look of that you can always stain it or something. We don't really care that much. They're also strong, in that the guy who runs the place will stand on a shelf to show you how much it will hold.

We've probably spent over $1500 there since we moved in here 5 years ago. Every time we need more shelves (not because these broke, but because we do something to open up another wall, and decide we need more shelves for more books), we always go there. We've also bought a couple more items of furniture there, but it's the shelves we keep going back for. You can't go wrong with this place.

Anyway, enough of the advertising (which I do out of great love for the service the guy has provided over the years, not for any compensation whatsoever).

So the living room is looking good.  We have a bunch of cords tangled up on our coffee table waiting for the return of our TV. The chair I'm currently sitting in is eventually going to get replaced, but it's fine for now. There's no hurry. The wife's checking Craigslist for something good. We don't want to get anything new because the cat will just wreck it.  So Craigslist is perfect.

Once the TV is back and the chair is replaced, the room will be as good as it's going to get. We really like the way it looks now.  It's much more open and we don't feel cramped. There's actually an open space right in the middle of the room, so I could do Dance Dance Revolution or play a Wii game or something like that.  Or rock out to Guitar Hero.

Not that I want to, because I have too much shame, even in my own home, but I COULD. That makes all the difference.

Counting the hours until our TV returns...
